Planning an overland journey to Mount Everest Base Camp in Tibet

Hey everyone! My partner and I are finally locking in our vacation plans for next year, and our biggest dream is to see Mount Everest up close from the Tibetan side. However, looking at maps and elevation profiles makes it feel like a massive undertaking, especially since we have never traveled to such extreme altitudes before. We want to make sure we choose a route that gives us enough time in Lhasa first, but also takes us past historic towns like Gyantse and Shigatse before reaching the base camp itself. If anyone here has done an overland route to the roof of the world recently, could you share your experience? Did you join a group tour or hire a private guide, and how did you handle the physical adjustment to the altitude along the way? Any tips or personal stories would be super helpful!

Hi there! Oh, doing an overland trip toward the mountain is honestly one of the most breathtaking travel experiences you can ever undertake. When I was planning my own adventure, I looked into various group options and found that booking a structured Tibet Everest Base Camp tour https://www.greattibettour.com/tibet-tour/lhasa-gyantse-shigatse-mt-everest-group-tour-421 was the best decision I could have made. It takes care of all the complex logistics, permits, and vehicle arrangements while ensuring a gradual ascent through Lhasa, Gyantse, and Shigatse so your body can safely adjust to the thinner air. Standing face-to-face with the north face of Everest is something you will literally never forget for the rest of your life. Just remember to stay hydrated, take it slow during the first few days, and you will have an incredible time!

Is it crazy to put real wood floors in a hallway with dogs?

Hello! I am looking for some brutally honest opinions here. We are redoing our main entrance hallway, which currently has ugly, cold tiles that I absolutely detest. I want to replace them with beautiful, warm timber, but we have two very active spaniels who bring in half the countryside when it rains. Am I asking for trouble by putting real wood in the main traffic zone of the house? I’ve been looking up options for wood flooring Edinburgh suppliers, but I don’t want to invest a fortune just to watch my dogs scratch it to pieces within the first month. Should I just compromise and get luxury vinyl instead, or is real timber doable?

It is definitely doable, you just need to choose the right character grade and texture! Don't get anything smooth or shiny because dog claws will show up instantly. Look for a deeply brushed, rustic grade oak that already has natural knots and grain patterns built into it. We have a busy house with pets and went with a gorgeous rustic engineered oak from http://www.hoffparquet.co.uk/ for our hallway. Honestly, when the dogs occasionally scratch it, you can’t even tell because the marks just blend right into the natural texture of the wood. It gives the house a lovely, lived-in country feel right from the front door, and it’s a million times nicer than walking onto cold vinyl or tiles.
